PREAMBLE
For God and Country, we associate ourselves together for the following purposes:
To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America; to maintain law and order; to foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism; to preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in all Wars; to inculcate a sense of individual obligation to the community, state and nation; to combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses; to make right the master of might; to promote peace and good will on earth; to safeguard and transmit to posterity the principles of justice, freedom and democracy; to consecrate and sanctify our comradeship by our devotion to mutual helpfulness.
MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Department of Georgia American Legion Riders is to promote and support the aims and purposes of The American Legion.
• The rehabilitation of all disabled veterans;
• Care of the dependents of those who have answered the final call;
• Care of those who are suffering from wounds, disease and want;
• The education of our children;
• Service to the community, state and nation.
American Legion Riders are Legionnaires, Auxiliary, and Sons of The American Legion who share a passion for riding motorcycles. We support the values of The American Legion by riding in patriotic parades, funeral escorts, and participating in programs, events and other ceremonies in the communities in which we live, work, and play. American Legion Riders have an unwavering respect for our country, our flag, and for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security.
Purpose
The American Legion Riders is formed to promote the aims and purposes of The
American Legion as a family oriented motorcycling activity for members of The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, and The Sons of The American Legion.
ARTICLE I – NAME
The name of this program shall be “The American Legion Riders of Post 47, Department of Georgia”.
ARTICLE II – NATURE
Section 1. The American Legion Riders of Post 47 (hereafter "ALR"), is a program of The American Legion, Department of Georgia (hereafter referred to as Department or DOG) and subject to the rules, regulations, policies, oversight and control thereof.
Section 2. The American Legion Riders (ALR) is a program for members of The
American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, and The Sons of The American Legion members, collectively "The American Legion Family," who share an interest in motorcycling.
Section 3. The ALR upholds the aims and purposes of The American Legion as well as conforms to and abides by the regulations and decisions of the National, Department, District, and Post organizations.
Section 4. The ALR maintains and protects the image of The American Legion at all times through appropriate wearing of The American Legion Emblem. The emblem of The American Legion demands, "that the wearer shall ever guard the sanctity of home and country and free institutions.”
Section 5. Under no circumstances shall any emblem of The American Legion be marketed, sold, or subordinated to any other organizational logo or emblem without the approval and consent of The American Legion national organization.
Section 6. All members of the ALR shall absolutely avoid any perception of being a motorcycle club or gang. We are an American Legion Family organization whose purpose is to serve our veterans and other Legion programs in the community.
Section 7. The American Legion Riders must represent the virtues, values, ethics and morals of the American Legion in support of freedom, democracy and the safety of our citizens. Affiliations of ALR programs with other groups and organizations that subscribe to the principles of and oppose our form of government by promoting anti-Americanism, anti-establishment or pro-criminal culture will not be permitted.
Section 8. The ALR strives to improve the public's perception of the motorcycling community by promoting the honorable nature of military service, and service to one's community, state and nation through the sport of motorcycling.
Section 9. Members of the ALR comply at all times with the motor vehicle safety, licensing, and insurance laws or regulations of the state in which operating.
ARTICLE III - ORGANIZATION
Section 1. Any Post of the Department may establish a local ALR Chapter by application for same to the DOG ALR Director with verification of member’s eligibility. Each Chapter exists at the discretion of the sponsoring Post/Department. The chapter officers and executive committee are responsible and accountable to the sponsoring post/department executive committee. All officers of the American Legion Riders chapter must be named by the hosting post or department, or if elected must be confirmed or installed by the hosting post or department.
Section 2. Upon establishment of a Post ALR Chapter, the Post ALR Chapter Director, shall submit a copy of the Post ALR Chapter Constitution, By-Laws, and Chapter Officer Certification Form to the DOG ALR. Such documents must be approved by the Post Executive Committee prior to submission.
a. Additionally, all Chapter ALR members, operators and passengers, must complete and maintain a Member Application/Information Form to be maintained at the Post Home by the ALR Secretary.
b. The Post will review its existing liability coverage with its insurance advisors to ensure that the addition of the Chapter does not expose the Post to undue risk.
Section 3. All approved Post ALR Chapters will be subject to all applicable provisions of the Department ALR Constitution and By-Laws. Chapters found in violation will be suspended.
Section 4. There will be no other official organizations of ALR at the Department, District, or Post level.
Section 5. A minimum of five (5) qualifying Legion Family members shall be needed to start a Post ALR Chapter.
Section 6. The Post ALR Chapter Officers and Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee are responsible and accountable to the sponsoring Post Commander and Executive Committee.
Section 7. Amendments to the Post ALR Chapter Constitution and By-Laws will be in accordance with the sponsoring Post Constitution and By-Laws and a copy will be sent to the DOG ALR Executive Board.
ARTICLE IV - MEMBERSHIP ELIGIBILTY
Section 1. Eligibility for membership in the Post ALR shall be as prescribed by the National Constitutions of The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Sons of The American Legion and DOG ALR.
Section 2. All members of the Post ALR must further demonstrate current individual membership in The American Legion, the American Legion Auxiliary, or the Sons of The American Legion.
Section 3. Individuals that are members of an American Legion Post not having an existing Chapter, may apply for membership to this Post ALR Chapter. That Post ALR Chapter must receive approval from the sponsoring American Legion Post that the qualifying individual or individuals may become a member of their Post ALR Chapter. The sponsoring Post ALR Chapter membership must also approve of, by majority vote, all applicants seeking Chapter membership from Non-Chapter Posts.
Section 4. It is understood and acknowledged that members joining this Post ALR Chapter under article IV section 3 can remain a member of this Post ALR Chapter as long as such membership in the Post ALR Chapter was on or before March 15, 2015. In the event a member joins under Article IV section 3 March 16, 2015 or later, it is understood and acknowledged they can remain a member of the Post ALR Chapter until such time a Chapter is formed at the member’s home Post. At that time they must return to their Post home or transfer their Legion Family membership to this Post where they are currently a Post ALR Chapter member.
Section 5. Members will not at any time hold membership in more than one Chapter.
Section 6. There shall be no form or class of membership except an active membership, and dues shall be paid as required by the Post ALR Chapter. Honorary or Associate membership in this Post ALR Chapter is forbidden, except for all Past Rider-In-Chiefs (Past Department Commanders), so recognized, since 2008.
Section 7. Each Post ALR member shall establish and maintain membership by being the registered owner of a street legal motorcycle (“two (2) wheeled” or “three (3) wheeled”) or be the legally registered owner’s spouse, partner Life partnership or a long-term relationship within the state of registration, or be a Past Rider-In-Chief since 2008. Additionally, a child/grandchild (under 18 years old) of the legally registered owner member is qualified for membership at the same Chapter.
Section 8. All Post ALR operators must have the following up to date and legal requirements:
a. Current motorcycle insurance
b. Current driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement
c. Motorcycle operator learner permits not to exceed one year are allowed provided all restrictions of said permit are adhered to.
d. All members will obey the motor vehicle laws of their state and the states through which they are operating a motorcycle or riding as a passenger.
Section 9. The Post ALR may allow for continued membership for those members who have given up motorcycle ownership because of age, illness, injury, or other reasons outside the member's control.
Section 10. Each Post ALR shall be the judge of the qualifications of its own membership, subject only to the restrictions of this Constitution and By-Laws.
Section 11. Post ALR Membership dues (provided dues are required):
a. Will be current from January 1st to December 31st.
b. A member whose dues for the current year have not been paid by January 1st shall be classed as delinquent. If their dues are paid on or before February 1st, they shall be automatically reinstated. If they are still delinquent after February 1st, they shall be suspended from all privileges. If they are still under suspension on June 30th of current year, their membership in the Chapter shall be forfeited.
c. Post ALR Chapter members who are unable to pay dues because of active duty deployment overseas are exempt from this provision until 90 days after their return to the United States.
Section 12. A member so suspended or whose membership has been forfeited may be reinstated to active membership in good standing by vote of the Post ALR membership and payment of current dues for the year in which the reinstatement occurs.
ARTICLE V - AMERICAN LEGION RIDER REGALIA
Section 1. The Legion Riders Back Patch, as copyrighted and sold by The American Legion Flag & Emblem Sales, is authorized for wear by all current members of this Post ALR. American Legion logos and emblems may also be authorized by the host post for wear by selected volunteers performing work on behalf of the local post or post programs
Section 2. As a member of the Post ALR, no other back patch or back patch design is authorized for wear at Post ALR meetings, gatherings or functions.
Section 3. The Department ALR standards for patch sales shall be on file with The American Legion Flag & Emblem Sales.
Section 4. Use of rockers or patches “physically attached” to the Post ALR back patch is not allowed due to trademark laws.
Section 5. Post ALR Riders uniform
a. The formal headgear worn at all Post ALR meetings, gatherings or functions will be the appropriate Legion Family uniform cap, the black ALR beret or the black ALR Ball Cap with The American Legion Rider embroidered emblem on the front.
b. In addition to the headgear and Rider vest, the official Post ALR dress code for official meetings and funerals will be black pants and white collared shirt.
Section 6: All approved ALR merchandise is available through The American Legion Flag & Emblem Sales, no other wear or use of The American Legion Emblem is authorized without formal approval of the Department and National Organizations.
Section 7: Post ALR vests should display the integrity, principles and values of The American Legion and the ALR by avoiding patches or pins with explicit or offensive language or images. All patches and pins of any group displayed on the ALR vest shall share like values of The American Legion with regard to improving the lives of veterans, the military, the community and families, and these groups must be supportive of the principles of justice, freedom, democracy, and equality for all.
a. Patches or pins, in any form, advocating one race, political party, ethnicity or gender over another are not allowed on the vest or motorcycle while representing The American Legion. This includes, but is not limited to, the KKK, BLM or the rainbow flag.
b. Patches or pins, in any form, that include vulgar language and especially any that contain the “F” word in any form are not allowed.
c. The only flags authorized to be displayed on the vest or motorcycles are the United States flag, the official Georgia State flag, military service flags and the POW/MIA flag.
Section 8: The minimum standards for the placement of patches on the vest are the following:
a. The United States flag patch will be placed on the uppermost left portion of the vest and will be the highest of all patches.
b. The POW/MIA patch will be placed on the upper right portion of the vest and slightly lower than the US flag.
c. The ALR back patch (single line or 3 line) will be centered on the back of the vest with no rockers or patches touching it.
d. Additional patches and pins may be added to the vest at the Riders discretion, provided they conform to the standards identified in Article V, Section 8.
ARTICLE VI - ELECTED OFFICERS
Section 1. The minimum required officers of the Post ALR Chapter are Director, Assistant Director, Treasurer, Secretary and Sergeant-at-Arms. Required positions cannot be combined and must be different Chapter members. A Road Captain, Activities Officer, Safety Officer, Judge Advocate, Chaplain, Historian and/or such other officers as the Post ALR Chapter determines necessary, will be elected by the Post ALR membership (OR) appointed by the Director with Post ALR membership approval. Appointed officers will have voice and vote privileges on the Post ALR Executive Committee.
Section 2. The Treasurer shall be surety bonded under the Post insurance policy.
Section 3. All elections shall be by ballot and the candidate for each office receiving the highest number of votes shall be elected to the respective office. If there is only one candidate for a particular office, that candidate will be declared the winner by acclimation.
Section 4. Only Post ALR Chapter members in good standing with the Legion Family to include the ALR are eligible for any office of the Post ALR Chapter.
Section 5. Elections are not valid until approved by vote of the Post general membership or the Post Executive Committee or the newly elected officers are installed by a Post officer during an appropriate ceremony.
Section 6. Each Post ALR Chapter shall be entitled to two (2) delegates at the annual DOG ALR Rally at the Department Convention. Each delegate will be entitled to one (1) vote. Additionally, each Chapter must have submitted a current Officer Certification, for the most recent election, in order to vote.
Section 7. Between chapter meetings, the administrative power of the chapter shall be vested in the chapter executive committee, whose voting members shall consist of all elective officers for the current year and the immediate past chapter director.
Section 8. All other past chapter directors shall be members of the executive committee with voice but no vote
ARTICLE VII - FINANCE
Section 1. The revenue of the Post ALR Chapter shall be derived from such membership fees or dues and from such other sources as may be approved by the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee.
Section 2. The amount of such membership or initiation fees and the amount of such annual Chapter dues shall be fixed and determined by the Post ALR Chapter.
Section 3. The Post ALR Chapter shall provide a monthly activities and financial report to the sponsoring Post Finance officer.
Section 4. All disbursing of funds shall require two (2) signatures. The Chapter Director and Chapter Treasurer are the only authorized signatures.
ARTICLE VIII - AMENDMENTS
Section 1. This Post ALR Constitution is adopted, subject to the provisions of the National Constitution, Department and DOG ALR Constitution, of which this Program is subordinate. Any amendment to the National, Department or DOG ALR Constitutions that is in conflict with any provision hereof shall be regarded as automatically repealing or modifying the provisions of the Post ALR Constitution and By-Laws of this Program to the extent of such conflict.
Section 2. This Post ALR Constitution may be amended at any regular Post ALR meeting by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members in good standing thereat, provided the proposed amendments shall have been submitted in writing and read at the preceding regular Post ALR meeting. Additionally, Post ALR members in good standing will be notified by mail, email or text message at least five (5) days in advance of the date that such amendments are to be voted upon.
Section 3. This Post ALR Constitution may also be amended by a unanimous vote at any regular Post ALR meeting without prior notice.
Section 4. All changes to this Post ALR Constitution will be forwarded to the Department of Georgia, American Legion Riders Director for review and approval.

By-Laws of

ARTICLE I -NAME
Section 1. The chapter existing under these by-laws is to be known as Calhoun Post 47, The American Legion, Department of Georgia.
Section 2. The name and nature of this chapter are as set forth in the constitution.
ARTICLE II - MANAGEMENT
Section 1. The officers of the chapter shall be Director, Assistant Director, Secretary,
Treasurer, Sergeant-at-Arms, Road Captain, Historian, Safety Officer, and Membership Chairman. [Note that the titles "President " and "Vice-President " are permissible replacements for "Director " and "Assistant Director ".
Section 2. Between Chapter meetings, the administrative power of the Post ALR Chapter shall be vested in the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee, which shall consist of all elected officers for the current year and the immediate Past Director.
Section 3. Officers of this Post ALR Chapter shall be elected and installed annually in conjunction with the sponsoring Posts elections and installation, and take office at the next meeting following installation.
Section 4. All vacancies existing in any Post ALR Executive Committee position or Office of the Chapter from any cause other than the expiration of the term shall be filled by a majority vote of the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee and with the consent of the Post ALR Chapter Membership. This individual shall hold office for the unexpired term of the member of the Post ALR Executive Committee or Officer whose position was vacated.
Section 5. A vacancy shall exist when a Post ALR Committee member or officer is absent from the Post ALR Chapter due to resignation, loss of qualifications, incapacity from injury or illness, or for a continuous period of three (3) unexcused absences.
Section 6. All replacement officer elections outlined in Section 3 are not valid until approved by vote of the Post general membership or by the Post executive committee. These new officers may also be installed by a Post official.
Section 7. All past chapter directors shall be members of the chapter executive committee with voice but without voting privileges.
ARTICLE III - MEETINGS
Section 1. The regular meeting of the Post ALR Chapter shall be held monthly at 6 PM on the 2nd Thursday of each month at which may be transacted such business as may properly be brought up for action; such meetings may be converted into entertainment meetings, as may be deemed agreeable by the officers of the chapter.
Section 2. The Post ALR Chapter Director or a majority of the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee shall have authority to call a special meeting of the Post ALR Chapter at any time.
Section 3. Upon the written request of two (2) of the Post ALR Chapter members, the Post ALR Chapter Director shall call a special meeting of the Chapter.
Section 4. Special meetings must address a specific issue or issues and are not intended to replace the regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
Section 5. Six (6) members shall constitute a Post ALR Chapter quorum.
ARTICLE IV – POST ALR EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
Section 1. The Post ALR Executive Committee shall meet at the call of the Post ALR Chapter Director within ten (10) days after the installation of new officers. Thereafter the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee shall meet as often as the Post ALR Chapter Director may deem necessary. The Post ALR Chapter Director shall call a meeting of the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee upon the joint request of three (3) or more members of said Chapter Executive Committee. Five (5) members of the Post ALR Committee shall constitute a quorum thereof.
Section 2. The Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee, based on majority vote shall hire such employees as may be necessary; shall authorize and approve all expenditures shall provide or require adequate bonds from all persons having custody of chapter funds; shall hear the reports of chapter committee chairs; and generally, shall have charge of and be responsible for the management of the affairs of this Post ALR chapter.
ARTICLE V - DUTIES OF CHAPTER OFFICERS
Section 1. Duties of Post ALR Director. It shall be the duty of the Post ALR Director to preside at all meetings of the Post ALR Chapter and to have general supervision over the business and affairs of the Post ALR Chapter, and such officer shall be the Chief Executive Officer of the Post ALR Chapter. The Post ALR Director shall approve all orders directing the disbursement of funds and shall provide a monthly report covering the business and finances of the Post ALR Chapter at each regular meeting of the hosting American Legion Post. The Post ALR Director will insure that an annual report covering the business of the Post ALR be submitted for inclusion in the annual Consolidated Post Report. The Post ALR Director is the chair of the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee. The director shall perform such other duties as directed by the chapter membership.
Section 2. Duties of Post ALR Assistant Director. The Post ALR Assistant Director shall assume and discharge the duties of the office of Post ALR Director in the absence or disability of, or when called upon by the Post ALR Chapter Director. The Post ALR Assistant Director will be responsible for membership, maintain accurate records of all Chapter members, and render reports of membership monthly and annually to the Post ALR Chapter membership. The Post ALR Assistant Director will serve as Chair of the Membership Committee and be responsible for Post ALR Chapter membership information and the reviewing of the eligibility of new, renewing, and reinstatements of Post ALR Chapter memberships. The Post ALR Assistant Director is the vice chair of the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee with voice and vote.
Section 3. Duties of the Post ALR Treasurer. To receive all moneys, to keep a just and true account of same and pay them out on the order of the Post ALR Chapter membership, with the consent of the Post ALR Director. The Post ALR Treasurer will, in a timely manner, deposit all funds in the banking institution of choice approved by the Post ALR Chapter membership. The Post ALR Treasurer will ensure two signatures on all checks disbursing Post ALR Chapter funds. The Post ALR Treasurer will serve as Chair of the Post ALR Finance Committee and give a detailed report at each Post ALR Chapter regular membership meeting, and shall report once a month to the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee the condition of the finances of the Post ALR Chapter. The Post ALR Treasurer shall also prepare a monthly activities and financial report for the sponsoring Post Executive Committee. The Post ALR Treasurer will also be keeper of the Post ALR Chapter store. The Post ALR Treasurer is a member of the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee with voice and vote.
Section 4. Duties of the Post ALR Secretary. The Post ALR Secretary shall keep a full and correct account of the proceedings of the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee meetings, and all Post ALR Chapter membership meetings. The Post ALR Secretary will also make available a written copy of the minutes at each Post ALR Chapter regular meeting, and keep such records as the sponsoring Post, District, and Department may require. The Post ALR Secretary shall, under direction of the Post ALR Chapter Director, handle all correspondence of the Post ALR Chapter. The Post ALR Secretary is a member of the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee with voice and vote.
Section 5. Duties of the Post ALR Sergeant-at-Arms. The Post ALR Sergeant-at-Arms shall ensure meeting areas are prepared in advance for all Post ALR Chapter meetings. The Post ALR Sergeant-at-Arms will ensure eligibility of all members attending such Post ALR Chapter meetings, and preserve order at all Post ALR Chapter meetings and gatherings. The Post ALR Sergeant-at-Arms will assist the Post ALR Director in all Post ALR Chapter activities and perform such other duties as may be incumbent upon the office or assigned by the Post ALR Director. The Post ALR Sergeant-at-Arms is a member of the Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee with voice and vote.
Section 6. Duties of Post ALR Road Captain. The Post ALR Road Captain shall plan and lead the formation in all organized tours, runs, activities, parades, events and enforce all rules of safe motorcycle operation and group riding. The Post ALR Road Captain, at any time, may appoint Post ALR Assistant Road Captains to aid in special tasks or take any other measures necessary to help insure the safety of the group during a ride. The Post ALR Road Captain will serve as a member of the Post ALR Activities Committee.
Section 7. Duties of the Post ALR Activities Officer. The Post ALR Activities Officer shall be the logistics person in charge of all Post ALR Chapter functions, and arouse interest in them. The Post ALR Activities Officer will serve as Chair of the Post ALR Activities Committee and determine dates, times and meeting places for those taking part in Post ALR Chapter functions. The Post ALR Activities Officer must make available a written copy of the Post ALR Chapter functions, prior to the event, to its membership, Post, District, and Department as may be required, and perform such other duties as may properly pertain to the office as may be determined by the Post ALR Director.
Section 8. Duties of the Post ALR Safety Officer. The Post ALR Safety Officer shall work closely with the Post ALR Road Captain and Post ALR Sergeant-at-Arms to maximize the safety of all participants at all events. The Post ALR Safety Officer shall also prepare and present safety training or a safety tip to the membership at every regular meeting. The Post ALR Safety Officer will assist the Post ALR Road Captain and the Post ALR Treasurer with event planning and event insurance issues. The Post ALR Safety Officer shall perform other such duties as directed by the Post ALR Director, and Post ALR Chapter Executive Committee.
Section 9. Duties of the Post ALR Judge Advocate. The Post ALR Judge Advocate shall advise the Post ALR Chapter Officers and Membership of all matters concerning interpretation of parliamentary procedure “Roberts Rules of Order” and adherence to The American Legion Constitution and By-Laws for the National, Department, District, and Post organizations. The Post ALR Judge Advocate shall also advise on matters concerning interpretation of The
Department of Georgia American Legion Riders, and Post ALR Chapter Constitutions and By-Laws. Further, this officer will maintain a file of the current editions of the above-cited documents.
Section 10. Duties of the Post ALR Chaplain. The Post ALR Chaplain shall be charged with the spiritual welfare of the Post ALR Chapter and will offer divine but nonsectarian service in the event of dedications, funerals, and public functions, etc., and adhere to such ceremonial rituals as are recommended by the National or Department headquarters from time to time.
Section 11. Duties of the Post ALR Historian. The Post ALR Historian shall preserve the records, incidents, and archives of the Post ALR Chapter and publish from time to time such historical data as may be appropriate. The Post ALR Historian shall perform such other duties as may properly pertain to the office as may be determined by the Post ALR Director or Post ALR Executive Committee.
ARTICLE VI - Delegates
Section 1. Delegates and alternates to a department American Legion Riders meeting, convention, regional gathering or other activity shall be elected by ballot by the Chapter at a regular meeting of the Chapter to be held prior to the date of such event.
ARTICLE VII - CHAPTER COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS
Section l. The chapter director, immediately upon taking office each year, may appoint standing committees or commissions for the furtherance of chapter programs.
Section 2. Such standing committees shall consist of such persons, and the chair thereof, as designated by the chapter director.
ARTICLE VIII – RESOLUTIONS
All resolutions of Department or National scope presented to the Chapter by a member or reported to the Chapter by a committee shall merely embody the opinion of the Chapter on the subject and a copy of same shall be forwarded to the Post/Department headquarters for its approval before any publicity is given or action other than mere passage by the Chapter is taken.
ARTICLE IX – NOTICES
Section 1. Every member shall furnish the Post ALR Chapter Secretary with a valid email or postal mailing address.
Section 2. The Post ALR Chapter Secretary shall cause notice of the annual election to be given at least two (2) weeks prior thereto.
ARTICLE X – PARLIAMENTARY PROCEDURE
The rules of procedure as prescribed by the revised edition of Robert’s Rules of Order shall be the accepted standard of parliamentary practice in all Post ALR meetings so far as the same are consistent with this Post ALR Constitution and By-Laws and with such other specific rules as may be adopted for each meeting.
ARTICLE XI - LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITIES
Section 1. The Post ALR Chapter shall incur, or cause to be incurred, no liability nor obligation whatever which shall subject to liability any other Chapter, subdivision, members of The American Legion, Department, District, Post, or other individuals, corporations or organizations.
Section 2. The Post ALR Chapter shall take such steps necessary to secure appropriate event insurance for all organized rides, events, celebrations and functions undertaken under the name of the hosting Post or Department.
ARTICLE XII - AMENDMENTS
Section 1. These Post ALR By-Laws are adopted, subject to the provisions of the National Constitution, Department and DOG ALR Constitution, of which this Program is subordinate. Any amendment to the National, Department or DOG ALR Constitutions that is in conflict with any provision hereof shall be regarded as automatically repealing or modifying the provisions of the Post ALR Constitution and By-Laws of this Program to the extent of such conflict.
Section 2. These Post ALR By-Laws may be amended at any regular Post ALR meeting by a vote of two-thirds (2/3) of the members in good standing thereat, provided the proposed amendments shall have been submitted in writing and read at the preceding regular Post ALR meeting. Additionally, Post ALR members in good standing will be notified by mail, email or text message at least five (5) days in advance of the date that such amendments are to be voted upon.
Section 3. These Post ALR By-Laws may also be amended by a unanimous vote at any regular Post ALR meeting without prior notice.
Section 4. All changes to these Post ALR By-Laws will be forwarded to the Department of Georgia, American Legion Riders Director for review and approval.
